The Shadow Monarch’s world is moving again, but fans waiting for the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok manhwa should temper their excitement.
Recent headlines have celebrated an August 12, 2026 return for Solo Leveling: Ragnarok. That date is real, but it does not currently represent the confirmed return of the webcomic.
Instead, Tapas is bringing back the English translation of the Solo Leveling: Ragnarok light novel on August 12. The manhwa remains on hiatus with a Season 3 return promised but not yet dated.
What Is Actually Returning August 12?
Current reporting based on Tapas’ announcement identifies the returning release as the English-translated light novel. The novel follows Sung Suho, son of Sung Jinwoo and Cha Haein, as a new generation takes the spotlight in the larger Solo Leveling mythology.
The novel should not be confused with the separate Ragnarok manhwa adaptation, which presents the sequel in illustrated webcomic form. That manhwa is the part many fans are still waiting for.
What Happened to the Ragnarok Manhwa?
The Solo Leveling: Ragnarok manhwa completed its second season before entering hiatus. Tapas posted an official announcement on January 31, 2026 stating that Season 2 had concluded and that the series would return for Season 3, but it did not provide a release date.
The production situation also became more complicated when artist JIN stepped away amid mandatory military-service obligations. Current reporting says the series is expected to continue with a different artist rather than wait for JIN’s eventual return.
