The back half of 2026 is getting increasingly crowded. Over the last two days, several anime projects have delivered meaningful updates ranging from new trailers and release windows to premium theatrical plans and the beginning of a currently airing series’ final storyline.
Taken together, these announcements give anime fans a much clearer picture of what the remainder of 2026 and the beginning of 2027 will look like. Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi Gets Its Main Trailer
One of the biggest updates belongs to Made in Abyss: Mezameru Shinpi. A new main trailer released August 7 brought additional cast information and confirmation of the film’s theme song by Mori Calliope.
More importantly for fans following the anime, Mezameru Shinpi continues the story following Made in Abyss: The Golden City of the Scorching Sun. The movie remains scheduled to open in Japan on October 23, 2026.

IMAX does not change the movie itself, but it changes how the film is positioned. Walpurgisnacht Rising is being given an opportunity to function as an event rather than simply another anime movie release. Multi-Mind Mayhem Targets January 2027
Multi-Mind Mayhem has confirmed a January 2027 premiere window. A new trailer released August 7 also revealed the anime’s main cast, production staff and a new key visual.
The project now has the pieces necessary to start feeling tangible: a broadcast window, cast, production team, trailer and key visual. January places it directly into the opening anime season of 2027 and gives fans one of the first substantial markers for next year’s calendar.
Romelia War Chronicle Enters the October 2026 Lineup
Romelia War Chronicle has confirmed an October 2026 television premiere. Its latest trailer also introduces additional cast members.
Unlike Multi-Mind Mayhem, which is establishing the opening of next year’s calendar, Romelia War Chronicle is joining a season approaching quickly. The most important question has now been answered: Romelia War Chronicle is coming this fall.
DIGIMON BEATBREAK Enters Its Final Chapter
The newest development arrived August 8. DIGIMON BEATBREAK is officially entering its final storyline. The Asuka Arc begins with Episode 42 on August 9, and a new key visual has been released to mark the transition.
